Landing gear wheel suspension

I really would like to add wheels to an air- and spacecraft landing gear but the current available suspension are far to long really and the general orientation of that doesnt fit. For landing gears the suspension should be vertically between two wheels like on this picture, same for the steering it should not turn the wheels but the whole suspension.

Agreed, a shorter version of the suspension blocks would be really useful for creating wheeled landing gears, as well as more compact rovers.


Personally not too bothered about having a dedicated landing gear type suspension, as that can be created with a rotor.

A 2-sided suspension block for wheels like pictured in O/P would be cool but above all I'd just like to see shorter versions of the suspension arms.

I'd be very glad if the suspension's flexibility could find it's way to landing gears, Currently landing gears are totally stiff and brakes easily, the shock absorption would make a great impact (pun intended :) )

In my opinion, the landing gear should behave by itself like a suspension, and maybe make it retractable like you can see here:

The current landing gear model does have some sort of articulation that would allow at least to work partially as a suspension.

Possibly adding a checkbox to make it rigid or not (although it could be like the suspensions, if you put strength 100% it would not move).

When I read the title, I though this was about the problem that I've experienced a number of time when landing a particularly heavy ship. Even at low speed, I've managed to blow up quite a few landing gears. It acts like a solid block. It dismayed a bit the first time that it happened.
