[Survival] Welder-Grinder Right click will only work on a single block

A very small feature request, Quality of life:

Since Right mouse click isn't used in Survival for the Welder and Grinder hand tools, I would suggest making it work only on a single block. As in, when that block is fully welded or grounded even with the mouse button still pressed, the tool will not work on another block until the right click button is reset.

It's to avoid grinding things by mistake. Yes it's nice to have that little bit of danger, "do not grind the critical block that's holding your whole frigate" but it feels a bit gimmicky, a bit cheesy. Especially since even a few dozens milliseconds of lag on SE's part at that critical time can lead to disaster :)

+ It would also be nice if right-click grinding would stop if the connected inventory no longer had space for components, so you don't drop components on the floor when a block is removed.

That should frankly be a default thing for either clicks.

Maybe a checkbox for grinders that are used for attacking, which would need to grind things without caring about components.

Totally agree.

The game also already has the targetting implemented because ship welder/grinder shows the aimed-at block in the UI.

I would really hate it if I have to weld a.. Let's say a floor of about 30-50 blocks and every single time I had welded one the welder would stop welding...

I then have to press again.. and again.. and again... 30-50 times...

Nah. The right click feature is good if you have to do a repeated job.

Such as grinding a crashed ship down, welding a bunch of blocks or digging out a bunch of voxels.

However, left click is used for quick tasks. Or more precise tasks.

I can't really make sense of your comment. The OP said right-click isn't bound for welders and grinders, did that change? Why are you complaining about a feature that would use a keybind that isn't currently used?

"The right click feature is good if you have to do a repeated job." I thought you were just arguing the exact opposite. Do you have your mouse buttons bound opposite or something?

Am I crazy?

Right click for ship welder and grinder do nothing.

Hey Tony

You're right.

I was thinking about the double click feature.

My mistake.

I support this idea. It's hard to judge the exact time required for grinder activation to finish off a particular block without starting on the one behind. Brief clicking does nothing, since the grinder isn't up to speed.

No opinion from Keen Software on the state of this ticket?

This shouldn't be a large amount of work to implement, and I can't see any downside to it.

Even better would be to use right click as a "grind/weld one block" rather then changing how left click works.
