Soundblock Improvement - Text to Speech

An option to type small blocks of text and have the block say that aloud.

Male and female voices. Robotic sounding toggle.

Text to Speech would be AMAZING, not just for us the players but Keen themselves could use it to make robots that talk to us and warn us or just communicate in general.

You mean like the text-to-speech from Moonbase Alpha or Sanctum 2? Those were pretty fun to play with...

Oh KEEN PLEASE DO THIS. THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!! Then I could program my sarcastic AI from Elite Dangerous into Space Engineers!!!!!

This would be great. It would allow long distance voice communication from player to player and even allow custom warnings or automated message broadcasts. I was actually wondering if they would ever allow voip over the sound block so you could radio different players.

There is already voice comms in the game. I don't use it personally, but this use was not part of my original intent. Simple, repeatable, warnings and messages were what I was thinking.

I like this, Clang meets Madden.

That idea is cool...But it has to be with the posibility to change pitch and length of the words via xml tags to make it sing

And no "filtering" of language plz. Players should be able to express themselves.

Well, at least put a filter setting that admins have the option to use. Let's be honest, some people should not be allowed to express themselves.

Finally somebody else are thinking the same.

Hello, Engineers!

This feature will not be added to Space Engineers, but it might appear in one of our future games or as DLC.

Cheers!

Seriously though: REEEEEE!

This could actually be useful. Usually I don't see reason to place sound block, I would with this feature.

You mean your choice of four of the most annoying sounds known to man, but with the option to set as a loop, isn't enough feature? Who could have predicted this?

Text-to-Speech is kids play with .NET nowadays. Just look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km07hiitf_E

Would be nice to be able to trigger any of multiple (10?) lines from a single sound block as actions for timer blocks / sensors. Next upgrade would be placeholders "proximity %1 meters" fed from the sensor. Just dreaming. :-)
