Exiting to Main Menu from SP game Sound Glitch

Upon answering the 'Save game before exit?' prompt the game appears to do some housecleaning/closing things down. During this period, before the Main Menu appears, I hear what sounds like 30 game windows being closed in rapid succession. It is very loud.
