My friend can't stay connected to my survival world. As of May 1 he disconnects as soon as he joins

He joins and then disconnects within a minute of being able to control his character. It's made it impossible for us to continue playing together. Started yesterday, May 1, and replicated today May 2.
I have the same bug
Additionally, my friend and I (unrelated to op) tried contacting devs through the report system ingame and on the discord to no avail. This issue also appears with a failing to save error on singleplayer/multiplayer after 10 minutes of gameplay.
