Sound Design of SE2

Look, this might come across as trivial, but here me out.

SE2 seems to have fallen into the trap of other space games whereby every single sound is made to be packed with as much "weirdness" (for lack of a better word) as possible, while also lasting exaggerated lengths of time.

Take pressing a button for example:

Why should pressing a button need to have so many layers of sound? In reality you might get at most a few basic sounds (one for finger/hand impacting button, one for click of switch, and one for switch hitting stopper).

In any case, the sound made by this action would last 10 to 50 milliseconds, but in SE2, it lasts 4 times that, while packing in a whole bunch of random sounds to make it sound "advanced"?

To me, this reduces the immersion of the game. Not because the sounds aren't detailed, but because they're detailed with arbitrary tech-slop sounds.
