Adaptive block placement
Why should SE keep such an outdated design in its building aspect, when even Minecraft offers some sort of procedural blocks states for fences, redstone etc. ?
Block placement in projection building could massively benefit from an adaptive, intelligent "block choice" system.
Take conveyors as an example : why do I have to manually select the shape of the pipes I place when the game could automatically decide which one fits the best in any scenario from the neighbor blocks ? See the linked demonstration to better understand my suggestion.
"But I want control over the shape of the conveyors I place" : Let's keep an option to place them the old way, or maybe add a handheld tool to configure each block and its shape after its placement in the projection.
Now to push this idea further, I also think armor blocks placement is a chore.
Why should I care about the size of each and every blocks I place ? Let me sort of "paint and the substract" with various brushes the desired shapes and volumes just like I would with voxels, and the game optimises the sizes of blocks for me. For example I paint with a small brush a shape that includes a large 2.5m cubic space, so the game automatically understands it and places a 2.5m armor block to fill the volume without my intervention. Then if I "pierce" a hole in it with the substract brush, the game understands that it needs to place smaller blocks around to fit this specific shape and allow more details. See the second demo as an illustration.
Now that you get the idea, you understand how slope placement could also benefit from such a system.
Here are my two cents to make SE more accessible, without sacrificing a bit of its incredible depth.
Cheers
