How to confuse dampeners
Build a ship with both Atmospheric and Hydrogen thrusters. Lift off with the atmospheric's. When the warning about atmospheric's not working appears, turn on the hydrogens. pitch up to get maximum lift. When the altimeter quits, turn off the atmospherics. Keep going until run get out of planetary gravity. Turn off dampeners. Point yourself at Vallation station. Turn on Dampeners when you need to adjust your course. Notice that your speed does not come down to 0.
Point yourself into the yellow streaks. Apply reverse thrust. Notice that your speed does not change.
Crash into Vallation Station. Notice that your thrusters don't work despite having plenty of Hydrogen.
Notice that the fly to Vallation Station contract is active. Remember that the point of this experiment was to get to Vallation Station without Accepting the 'Fly to Vallation Station' So now I get to do it again any try to see when the contract turns itself active. Perhaps tomorrow.
