Are there any smarts behind the supporting truss tower?
I don't know what it is trying to support, but it is very good at not aligning with the blocks in the grid at which point, it is hard to find a block connected to truss block.
If it is aiming for a landing gear, it is likely to clip through the foot so you can't weld it up. and the gear will have a solid connection to the rest of the vehicle making the top truss block difficult to get to and to build out from.
I ran into this after choosing a quick start and trying to build a grasshopper using the hand welder.
