Pistons Bending When They Shouldn't
Submitted
I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if it was intentional to make pistons weaker, but pistons are much less stable in 1g in the sense that they bend like wet noodles in 1g now under significantly less weight; it doesn't feel particularly good to interact with them in 1g environments as of the combat NPC update, whereas they felt much more stable to interact with beforehand
I have the same bug
I'm fairly certain that it is a bug, because the behavior is inconsistent and it doesn't happen sometimes; I've been trying to narrow down the exact cause in a vanilla default creative world.
It happens while the pistons are fully extended, usually as well as not in motion, unassisted by their own velocity, or any external forces like upwards thrusters.
They seem to remain stable while they are applying velocity to themselves, or while assisted via passive upwards thrusters, but while unassisted can become noodle-like and have rather exaggerated bends when weighted down

1 direct cause of the "noodle effect" I've been able to identify so far at least, is grinding off blocks in survival, or removing them with right click in creative mode; specifically while in 1g, on a grid containing pistons, hinges, or rotors
Mainly while said grid is clamped down to the ground, or onto another grid with landing gears, removing a block will cause some of the piston segments to float and allow them to bend very unnaturally
Pictured is the before and after of removing a block while clamped to the ground
