Space Engineers 2 is a diverging disappointment, steering away from the SE1 fanbase
I simply despise this game. SE2 is the equivalent of taking a perfectly good complex game and grinding it down so it appeals to the "default" masses, the kind of people who aren't into complex spaceship builder games and slow & tedious (lovely kind of tedious) progression, and just want an adrenaline kick.
Do I love SE1? With all my heart. Did I bankrupt myself to buy all the SE1 addons? With all my heart. Did I enjoy it? With all my heart. Can I not enjoy it anymore? No, yeah, I can.
But I feel like SE2 is a big stab in the back from Keen, akin to what happened with KSP2 (different game, different drama, not gonna elaborate). Not the same situation but pretty close in terms of ens#ittification if you ask me. Stone is no more, you get one random ore when you dig the ground. Refined materials are no more... you just jump from ore to part to (from what someone told me in the SE-adjacent interweb) cater to console players. Because yes, the main priority of any sane game studio is to cater to as many people as possible and rake in as much cash as possible, I get that. But what good is more playerbase if you lose the old, loyal one?!
I'll get to the point, because this turned into a bit of a manifestation of my emotional outrage at the situation...
- Want stone back. (or an option to enable it)
- Want refined materials (INGOTS) back. (or an option to enable them)
- Want building with ore gone. (or an option to remove it)
- Want to feel like this is the complex soul-grinding Space Engineers franchise and not "Easy Space Sim" portable edition.
- And I'd say more but I am physically incapable. Please just look at SE1 and bring back the things that we loved. Please...
