So i progress to 5 or 6 hours on a playthrough save and stuttering get heavy at 5.5 or 6 hours and ive 35gb free internal memory i have a hdd removable drive i keep games and their saves in and transfer them to and from the drive then have steam look at the files after i remove the hdd and steam makes the game playable again if i didn't tell the steam app to move the files itself, just unnecessary info so you understand the hdd drive is removable when i share the text from my clip board and the computers specs that i run the se2 alpha on. but not being a tech savvy farmer from a logging town in Oklahoma, well im not tech savvy.

user1; So yor laptop uspecs are not the best. They should be enough for playing this game, but you must be aware that mods are not officially released by the dev crew, they may not be working best with the game, cause some crashes, stuttering, unexpected behavior. Even with that, as more powerful pc might handle them anyway, yours may not. Also it depends on what ingame settings you're playing with. But with what all I said I'm almost sure it's the drive. It's hdd. No good.

me; removable says hdd, i don't see in the specs page that the internal is hdd... buuuut i am no techie and removable is disconnected during play for everything

user1; Okay, so that's one good thing, but se2 is relatively new game, hdd drives have much slower data transfer speeds than ssd's. Thay may cause longer loading screens, and also stutters, cuz the game needs some assets that are not loaded quickly enough to the game cuz of this bottleneck. I can't tell you if that is 100% the reason of it, but most likely it is. I'd try to move the game to some ssd and compare. Even external one, just for test purposes

user2;just caught up, HDDs are slower and an SSD would probably help but honestly that likely isn't the complete story with your stuttering. 16gb of RAM is a bit on the low end for modern titles, particularly with something like SE2 and the little background shite its doing.

More importantly, that's an R7 4800H which is a pretty basic chip on top of being a mobile focused unit, not the end of the world but certainly hampering performance, and arguably the most important spec is that GPU.

That's a mobile 3060 with only 6gb of VRAM. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that laptop is kind of the lower end of gaming capable, it'll play a decent bit of stuff but with that VRAM, system memory and an HDD on top of that, I'm honestly not surprised you're running into issues.

One thing you could try is scaling the resolution down, I don't know what resolution your display is at but if its a 4k display, set it to 1080 for gaming and if its a 1440 display then bring it down to 720. Properly scaled resolutions won't look *that* bad but can vastly improve performance on mid and lower end hardware..

that was the length of the chat in se2help of the keen discord. i will add the screenshots too and my email is jgmusan@gmail.com and i look forward to your reply and hope i can keep this plastic brick playing that amazing sequel. let me know if i need to use the admin console and what to do there if needed. also pcu is 322935. mods used are; Mining lasers by decado, construction station by decado, battery ++ by k.bill89
