Remote controlled grids/autopilot
Similar idea as Wireless Terminal discussed here, but I added some plus functionality for vehicle grids.

Antenna-based Remote Grid Control and Autopilot
I would like antennas to provide remote access to owned grids within communication range.
When a player and a remote grid are connected through antennas, the player could access that grid's Terminal, Inventory and Production screens in a read/control mode. Items could not be transferred wirelessly, but production queues and block settings could be changed remotely.
A practical example would be mining far from your space station and realizing that you need more ammunition or components. Instead of flying back just to interact with a production block, you could remotely queue production and have the items ready when you return.
A more advanced use of the same system could be remote vehicle commands. A ship equipped with the appropriate control block could receive commands such as Fly to GPS, Return to Base, or Fly to Me. Spacecraft navigation between GPS coordinates should be considerably easier to implement than ground vehicle pathfinding.
Communication should require an actual radio link. Range could depend on antenna/controller tier, and planets should block radio signals. This would make relay stations and communication satellites useful for extending the player's network.
I think this would fit especially well as a mid-game unlock, when players begin operating multiple ships and bases in different locations.
