Smelter fails to produce Components while Input Inventory is already full

Not a Bug

See attached video for example.

The Smelter fails to obtain Resources from connected Cargo Container due to its own Input container being full. In this case it was deliberately "clogged", but this can happen due to player negligence too. Once there is space cleared in its Input, it resumes production as normal.

This would make sense if there are no connected Containers with free space (entire Grid Inventory overloaded) but otherwise feels as though it should either be able to clear itself automatically, give a warning that it's jammed, or simply be disallowed from manually filling with resources.

Bug? Player oversight? You be the judge!

Hello Asdam,

This is expected behavior. When Production Blocks take the items automatically from connected Inventories, they only take the amount needed to complete their queue. Players are free to place as much items as the block's inventory can hold and purging the items manually placed in the Input Inventory could be confusing.

As such, I will close this thread as Not a Bug.
