Different behavior between 2 connectors
Hello, I'm delighted to give this first feedback, which will likely be followed by many more, after more than 300 hours of testing the game.
I understand that this is an alpha version, and I understand the importance of feedback to improve the game, fix problems, and I understand that not everything is available yet.
My first experience with connectors, for ship design tests, is that I wanted to create a section we'll call CORE, which contains everything needed for flight (thruster, battery, cockpit, gyro, etc.). I have a connector at the front and one at the rear.
I created another grid that we'll call MODULE, which is composed of a container and two connectors.
The idea is that the CORE can pick up and connect to the MODULE, like a truck can hitch a trailer.
I suspect the connector as designed isn't intended for this purpose, but lacking anything else, it's what I used.
The feedback I'd like to give—I don't know if it's a bug or intentional—is that when I connect the MODULE to the CORE at the front or rear, the flight behavior is very different.
When it's at the front of the CORE, the flight control is smooth and stable; I can move correctly.
When it's at the rear, the craft tends to veer off abruptly in all directions.
I don't think it's a gyro issue because I've done tests with a much larger gyro (size 2) and I get the same behavior.
What I get the impression is that the behavior is linked to the direction of the thrust. If we push the MODULE relative to it, then it's stable, but if we pull it, then it's unstable.
To reproduce the problem, create a minimalist ship in creative mode with the cockpit and everything else needed. I added six hydrogen reactors in the four main directions, four for the left lateral direction, and four for the right. I also added a connector at the front and rear.
For the module, I used a container (the small one) with a connector at the front and rear.
Move the CORE close to the MODULE to use the connection with the P.
Once connected, go forward at full throttle; you should then go into a spin.
Then test it at full throttle backward; it should remain stable.
Repeat the test, but this time connect the MODULE to the front connector of the CORE.
When you push the module, it works fine, but when you tow it, it suddenly accelerates to over 50 km/h without even changing its trajectory.
