Analog support for Thruster output in spacecraft and steering in land based vehicles

Manoeuvring a spacecraft to land on a a dime would go so much easier when using analog (yes, controller) support.
Land-based vehicles would benefit from analog support as the direction of the wheels should follow the analog signal providing steering wheel movement and a more enjoyable ride experience.
I'm not asking for full menu support here. Just add the subtlety of analog stick direction to the controls of a grid (be it space suit, car or spacecraft)
Touching a key and have a full scale engine burst is so unrealistic.
