Armor Block Slope Solver

I Propose a way to reduce the overall number of slope options available on the G menu, while increasing the available slope options to build. The G menu could have only basic shapes (Cube, 45, half cube, half slope, etc...) + a block slope Solver block.

How it works:

This block, would analyze the surrounding blocks, and automatically internally iterate through all the slope options possible, ranking them by how close a fit they are.

  • How close the fit the block shape is to the slot it is sitting in
  • How simple the block shape is
  • How popular the block shape is
  • How commonly you used a block shape in your current grid

It would then give this curated list of blocks to you as a custom group. The best fit block would show first, then press R to see the next one.

Block price would scale with Volume enclosed.

Why?

This is basically what every player is doing manually right now to choose the best fit block. The computer can do it faster. There are currently Dozens of block options in the game already. This covers Most situations, but not all. To cover more, there are many block slope Mods out there. But even that doesn't cover all reasonable possibilities.

How it would be used:

The additional feature (I have seen requested) of MMB to Pick a block would help this immensely. As does the current partial copy system. Both would make the ability to duplicate your work easier.

Need a VERY specific shape that you can't find? Build a 5 sided box around an empty space, choosing blocks that fit your needs. Then place the solver in the middle, rotate through options till you find what you want, then place it. MMB to copy, and go over to your build and place as many times as you want.

An additional feature could be to have the solver block be able to be Stretched to fill a hole, not just a single block volume (so we can make slopes 2x1, 3x1, etc...). It would then auto generate the blocks necessary to fill the hole.

Attached files are example of what it would look like. Each file is the next option when you press R (vanilla blocks only)
