Control Panel groups not retaining state

When opening and closing the ship's control panel from the cockpit, the control groups are not remaining in the state that I last left them. They are all re-opening.
For example, in this case, I'm trying to access the control group for the drills so I can set them to Dig mode. This control group is at the top of the list. When I need to switch them to Mine, so I don't have to continuously hold the right mouse button, I have to scroll up and close the batteries and ion thrusters groups that I also set up.

It would be nice if the open/closed state of the groups was retained so I didn't have to keep scrolling to find the drills.

I have this problem as well. It's very annoying when you have multiple docked grids and all the groups keep re-opening.
