Deliver Lead & Gold Mission - counter reset during mission

Build v2.3.0.2791

This was an odd issue that occurred during the Deliver Leads & Gold mission. Somehow the game stopped recognizing that I had ore already delivered to Palatine Station, and the lead counter that was originally listed reset to 0.

Earlier, I delivered around 48k of lead (out of the required 250k). I am mining the ore at my Veridian Halo base in the asteroid belt, so I jumped from Vallation Station to Palatine Station to perform the initial delivery.

After returning to my base via Vallation Station, I decided that I needed to construct a larger Ion Thruster hauler ship to cut down on the number of trips. This hauler, using 3 large containers and a connector, was able to haul around 230K of ore in the second trip.

While constructing the ship, I started to experience lag and a series of game crashes at my asteroid base (different bug log). I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but when I loaded up the Ion Thruster hauler and set out for Vallation Station, I noticed that the ore counter for Lead had reset to 0 instead of continuing to list 48K of ore already delivered.

Once I jumped back to Palatine Station, I was able to check that the ore was still present in the Delivery Container. I was also able to reset the counter by moving part of the ore out of the Delivery Container and back into it. I then added the gold and ore to the container.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, I'm not done with the mission yet. I'll try to keep an eye on the counter and see if/when it resets. If I can capture when, I'll try to get another screenshot.

The game did not crash nor did the counter reset for the remainder of the mission.

In version V2.4.0.95 This continues to happen. For me, every time I loaded an earlier version of the world or left the Palatine Station area with fast travel when I returned to the station the material I had deposited was still in the delivery container and the mission counter was set at zero. Putting any mission item into the container immediately set all counters to their proper value.

As luck would have it, I was just in the middle of fulfilling this particular contract when Ed posted his update. When completing the Wire (250), Hard Drive (250), Motherboard (500) contract, I knew that the next mission that I took would be this same Lead/Gold mission. After completing the contract and accepting the new one, I had dropped off 106,000 Gold at the station to start filling the requirements.

When Fast Traveling back to Vallation Station to get my mining ship to mine more lead, the counter did NOT reset to 0. It remained at 106.000 Gold for the entire time when I was mining a large chunk of lead.

When I flew back to the station, my ship (which is very ungainly atm) was pogoing badly until I exited the cockpit, at which point the pogo effect slowed and stopped immediately. I stopped to make a bug report (though this might be expected behavior) and noticed Ed's comment.

Since I was currently at that mission, I decided to do some additional testing. I saved the game and then reloaded it. The counter did indeed reset to 0. When I went back to Palatine Station, I saw the ore was still in the Delivery Container, and I was able to reset the counter by moving ore out of the container. The mission counter immediately reset to the right value, and moving the ore back reset it to the original 106,000. See the attached videos to view the change in numbers.

It looks like this counter does not survive saving and reloading the game, even though no delivery items are lost.

Ed, for your Fast Travel issue, you might try verifying your game files to make sure there aren't any issues with them. Fast Travel doesn't seem to impact the counters for me. But saving and reloading - or reload after a game crash - does.

It seems to me that when I fast travelled to another station, the displayed counts of delivered ores reset to 0. However when I travelled back to Palatine Station and put more ore in the delivery container, the previously deposited ores where still there and the addition was recognized, just as Jeff described. I was mining on Kemik, slowly and with a ship only capable of moving 80 K kg at a time and so saw this issue repeatedly.

I'm guessing that the values are associated with the station where the delivery container exists, and moving to a different station causes the display to only show the values in the local delivery container.
