Creating mechanical system with touching subgrids

Hi,

In the attached save file, I am creating a mining rig. I am to have pistons to extend the drill.

To have deeper reach, while optimizing height when the system is retracted, i want to create multiple inline pistons, then, conveyors going up, then a second series of pistons, then up again...

The issue is that it is very difficult to create such system because it is forbidden to create a block on a subgrid if another subgrid is too close. I don't know if it's the collisions or the fact that the building system doesn't know on which grid to attach the block.

It should be possible to do so. When having multiple touching grids, the system should prioritize to connect to the grid i am currently aiming at.

If the collision are involved, then it might be more complicated to handle this issue. Reducing collisions boxes might create issues elsewhere. Maybe add an input key in building mode to allow the user to bypass collisions when building ?

I hope this will get modified because creating compact mechanical systems is a pain in the current state of the game.
