Selecting block variants feels clunky

Hi, First of all, I have enjoyed this game very much. It has major potential in Its future. However, the main issue I have with the game is when I'm selecting a block variant (slopes or conveyors mainly) It feels very clunky and hard to go back and forth between the block and I often find myself not using the other variants as much as I would like because of it. If there was a wheel selection (similar to the colouring system) It would make it much more efficient to switch between the types of blocks and majorly improve and speed up the building experience.
I've also attached an image of a rough concept of what it could look like (I imagine it wouldn't be pixel art in the game of course.)
