Particle Effects Visibly Shake or Bounce When Facing the Camera
I have noticed an issue with the particle system in Space Engineers 2 where particles appear to subtly shake, bounce, or move up and down when they are facing the camera.
This movement does not appear to be part of the intended particle effect. Instead, it looks like the particles are slightly changing position or orientation from frame to frame as the camera views them. The result is a noticeable jittering effect, particularly on larger, slower-moving, or more clearly defined particles.
This was also an issue that could be seen in Space Engineers 1, and it now appears to be present in Space Engineers 2 as well.
It may be related to how billboard particles are rotated to face the camera, as the shaking is most visible when the particles are directly facing the player’s view. It gives the impression that the entire particle is bouncing slightly up and down rather than remaining stable.
I will include a screenshot outlining the issue so that the behaviour is easier to see when watching the linked video at around 1.5s in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwHHyAZ1riA&t=2s
It would be appreciated if the particle-facing or billboard calculations could be investigated, as stable particles would significantly improve the visual quality of effects such as smoke, fire, sparks, atmospheric effects, and modded particle systems down the line. I realise this video is of subject to change things, i just want to point it out now early on :)
