Boulder facade not disappearing when drilled away

Just started a Classic Survival world. My little pod has its entrance facing a large boulder that I have to squeeze past to access the survival kit, so I decided to drill away a chunk of the boulder for better access.
The drilling seems to have been successful, but, from the outside, it looks like the boulder is untouched. It has an intangible facade where the surface of the boulder used to be. I can walk through this facade and find that there actually has been a good chunk of rock drilled away.
Fortunately, the bug seems to have been temporary. I tried restarting the game and when I loaded back in, this facade was gone.
