Need More Information

Game Version: 2.2.0.2116

System: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, RTX 4070 Ti, 32GB RAM, Windows 11

Bug description:

My large ship (300,000+ PCU) causes a repeatable Stack Overflow

crash in the Havok physics engine. The game crashes every time

after loading the world "Yamato world 2 1".

Error from log:

Stack overflow at Keen.VRage.Physics.Havok.HkSession+__Internal

.StepCollide(IntPtr, Single)

Exit code: -1073741571 (0xC00000FD)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Load the save "Yamato world 2 1"

2. Enter and fly the large ship (300,000+ PCU)

3. Game crashes with Stack Overflow in HkSession.StepCollide

No mods installed. Vanilla only.

Save file and full log attached.

Additional note: The game incorrectly flags my system as "MinRequirementsNotMet" in the log, even though my hardware exceeds the recommended specs (Ryzen 9 7900X, RTX 4070 Ti, 32GB RAM).

Hello Leon,

I could load your provided world without an issue. Are you able to paste the ship or any other high PCU grid in any other world?

The "MinRequirementsNotMet" is present due to the Game not being able to detect a drive where the Game's executable is located. What drive do you use?

There are a few solutions we can try:

  1. The log states that available RAM at launch is only approx. half of your RAM. Try disabling any overlay (Discord, Steam etc.) and closing other applications
  2. It seems that your Avast antivirus is injected into the Game process. Try excluding SE2 Game folder and the Appdata - C:\Users\(your_username)\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2 folder from the antivirus
  3. If you don't have it already, update your GPU driver to the latest available version

Let me know if any of these helps.

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

System:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (12 GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • OS: Windows 11 (Build 26200)
  • Game Version: 2.2.0.2116
  • No mods active

Issues found in logs:

1. MinRequirementsNotMet tag set at startup The crash handler immediately tags the session with MinRequirementsNotMet and shows a Performance Warning dialog (MinimumHardwareRequirementsWarningDialog), despite the system having a RTX 4070 Ti and 32 GB RAM.

2. 51x Missing vanilla material resources (SPERA character textures) All missing files belong to GUID 56dacb76-e25e-468a-9432-21964a9a0569, path Characters\SPERA\Materials\Default\*. Examples:

Error: Missing material resource 56dacb76-e25e-468a-9432-21964a9a0569\Characters\SPERA\Materials\Default\Backpack\SPERA_Backpack_add.dds Error: Missing material resource 56dacb76-e25e-468a-9432-21964a9a0569\Characters\SPERA\Materials\Default\Helmet\SPERA_Helmet_cm.dds

(51 files total, all .dds textures for the SPERA character)

3. VRAM "missing bytes" accumulating to ~375 MB, then stopping

VRAM report about missing bytes is changed from 0 → 375 MB Too many VRAM reports, stopping printing

Appears directly caused by the missing textures above.

4. Missing material assignments on fractured models

Error: Model TrussFrame_Wide_Fractured.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned. Error: Model Gyroscope250_Deformed.vrm_LOD3 part Fracture05-WindowGlass does not have material assigned. Error: Model TrussFrame_Long_Fractured.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned. Error: Model Shower250_Deformed.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned.

5. Hard GPU crash (no .NET exception) Process terminates without a managed exception — only a native minidump is written to: C:\Users\leonr\AppData\Local\Temp\SpaceEngineers2\ProcessFailureDump.dmp Nvidia Aftermath was active (GFSDK_Aftermath_EnableGpuCrashDumps: Success), a GPU crash dump should be available.

Previous session also sent a "sudden death" report to crashlogs-v3-report.keenswh.com (Status: OK), so Keen may already have the crash data.

ADDED INFO:

Subject: Hard GPU crash when entering specific area of ship – defective block suspected

Description:

The game crashes with a native process failure (minidump written) when I enter a specific area of my ship in the save "Yamato world 2 1". When I avoid that area the game runs stable.

Based on the render logs, the crash appears to be triggered by fractured/deformed blocks with missing material assignments:

Error: Model TrussFrame_Wide_Fractured.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned. Error: Model TrussFrame_Long_Fractured.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned. Error: Model Gyroscope250_Deformed.vrm_LOD3 part Fracture05-WindowGlass does not have material assigned. Error: Model Shower250_Deformed.vrm_LOD0 part BrushedMetal does not have material assigned.

Additionally, 51 vanilla character textures (SPERA suit) are missing from the install (GUID 56dacb76-e25e-468a-9432-21964a9a0569), causing ~375 MB of VRAM allocation failures on every session.

I have no backups of the save. Could you help remove the defective blocks from the save file directly?
