Building/Weilding making new grid erroneously
Using the Classic Survival Update world, I've played it off and on for the past few weeks. Built a terrestrial station, connected production units, created docking connecters.
A few weeks ago I encountered a bug where the connector to the ship was not 'seeing' the rest of the grid. I discovered the problem when the smelter wasn't automatically pulling resources and the batteries weren't charging. I cut back on the connectors and rebuilt everything and the whole grid could see everything again. Docked ships included.
Today I was getting the Assembler started and I realized I must not have fixed the bug and/or there is a persistant problem with the save or version. Building the new assembler onto the grid did NOT connect it to the grid's power or conveyor system and tried to build a new grid entirely.
Attached is a video of me walking through building and identifying the disconnect from the main grid and the bugged creation of a new attached grid.
I have the same bug
Hello Louis A.,
This is expected behavior. Most likely what has happened here is that part of the platform you've built is not actually connected to the other part. In Survival that often happens when welding different parts of the floor that are not yet connected by physical blocks but by projections. When using Armor blocks, this is visible in a seam between two same sized blocks.
Fastest solution would be now to rebuild the parts of the platform (to determine which parts need to be rebuild I would recommend placing a single light on each catwalk and rebuilding the ones where the lights are unlit.
As this expected behavior, I will close this thread as Not a Bug.
Kind Regards,

I can understand how part of this is 'expected behavior', but I was able to build a cargo container 5m in the same spot and it did not experience the same result... So I can only assume this is because the assembler bridged the seem between two different grids.
I really don't want to encounter this behavior again especially if I get into a rather large build. Thank you for the notice regarding the seems on armor blocks and using lights to identify, that will help.
