Recharging the hydrogen for the jetpack is not working.

When I try to recharge the jetpack at the survival terminal, nothing happens, even though ice is available. Once the jetpack is empty, it can no longer be used.

You have ice, but do you have an O2H2 converter? And an Hydrogen tank? Linked to the terminal?

At the start, you have neither ice nor the materials for a tank or converter.

You only have the spawn pod with the survival kit.

How are you supposed to get everything you need to refill your jetpack in the early game?

SE1 had this thing more thoughtfully implemented.

And even if you somehow manage to get ice and build an H2/O2 converter, you suddenly lose the ability to build a tank because you can't get the necessary materials without a jetpack.

An H2/O2 converter should have a small tank integrated by default.

Otherwise, you often have to restart the game or load a very early save due to demobilization.

That's ridiculous.

Hmm wait, the hydrogen is used to boost the jetpack (holding shift), not to use it, it's only electricity. If the hydrogen is depleted, you can still use the jets.

I so rarely use the boost, I still haven't use it all in one go.

This. Don't use shift while flying and you can go forever.

I voted, because it's not working!

Oxygen tank does work, refills the suit, but not the same button, with the same interactive message "Press [F] to refill", on the hydrogen tank.
