Garbage cleanup logic flaws

Hi, been running into an unusual problem with items vanishing while I'm interacting with them periodically. This obviously happens from time to time with mission items, where (let's say hypothetically) I was trying to salvage two full hydrogen tanks from a scrappable ship, but a few minutes after the mission was over, they simply vanished. This also happened to a couple derelict ships that I was trying to salvage from a mission, vanished while I was grinding on them.

Less desirable is when you encounter the green 'unknown signals' at random in space. These too have vanished while I was interacting with it, in one case maybe two minutes after it appeared. One of these was a derelict ship with a turret, I flew over and fought it with a missile launcher, then flew over to get my spoils and as I was opening the cargo container on it, it vanished.

Expectation:

Stuff shouldn't vanish if the character is in the immediate area. I get like the old-school SE1 parachute drops that had a timer before self destructing or how the newer blocks had a (2 hour) 'will despawn if unclaimed' timer. If we're nearby, stuff shouldn't vanish. Even mission items, if I want to take what's left of the hydrogen ship after dismantling the quest 'stuff' and keep it, and maybe even make it into a fixer upper project, that should be decided by me. Heck, that's half the fun!
