In SE(1), you called them "dampers". SE2 calls them "dampeners".

According to Dictionary.com...

"Dampener:

  1. to make damp; moisten
  2. to dull or deaden

Damper:

  1. a person, event, or circumstance that depresses or discourages
  2. to produce a depressing or inhibiting effect on
  3. a movable plate to regulate the draught in a stove or furnace flue
  4. a device to reduce electronic, mechanical, acoustic, or aerodynamic oscillations in a system
  5. ... [more stuff, but not applicable]"

Dampen (4) seems more appropriate than Dampener (2) in my opinion.
