Split Grids Retain Same Build References

I accidentally built a ship from Blueprints onto a base (forgot to use J), and then had to cut the ship off of the base after I was done. The main grid stayed a base and the ship became free to move. Attempting to build onto the ship grid ended up with the hologram part viewing the placement preview on the ship, but actually placing onto the base grid in the same location it would be, as if the ship grid had not been separated and then moved around. The ship grid was renamed before attempting to build. Game was completely restarted and this persisted. Perhaps there's an internally referenced base grid ID that remains on the ship grid, but the base grid is found first in the memory structure, so it gets affected? Sorry, I didn't think to get a screen capture before fixing the grids in creative mode (deleted ship and pasted from Blueprints).

Apparently pasting a grid from Blueprints, also without using J to start a new grid will still place the pasted grid into the last interacted grid, even though the control panel list doesn't show the grids together.

That's a point to add to the original post... Both grid control panel lists were independent of each other after cutting the ship off from the base.

I can see how this would be handy for broken grids to be reattached, but it may be confusing to anyone who's used to making different grids after splitting them. Perhaps there could be a button on the control panel list, maybe with selecting the top level name, to make the grid become a new one.
