Keybinding - "K" key conflicting with custom binding

When assigning the "K" key to a a specific (in my case: move to left), it works just fine, accept when my aim is pointing at a the inventory of a block, and that I press "K": it opens the control panel instead of moving to the left. I have to point outside of the inventory of a block, to do a proper left move.
I guess that the "K" is assigned by default to open the control panel but there is currently no way to personalize the key for this action in VS2.2.
