The gravity generator is only operating at 10%

After changing the gravity generator settings, it can no longer be set to 1G. Everything looks ok in the settings, but the game only shows 0.10G on the HUD and still behaves like that. Location: Starter Platform, before Objective 7: Ready for Takeoff
As a bonus, the game would not shut down afterwards. I had to close the entire Steam. I can't attach the savegame file because it's not in the folder.

Don't know about the shutdown thing, but I also see the same issue with all gravity generators. By default, it's 1G like on planet. But chaning the gravity strength and it's only 1/10 of the value displayed in the settings, giving extremely quick gravity pull even at max.
