System Crashes on start of game

The game DOES NOT CTD or BSOD.

When loading the game, the entire PC catastrophically crashes, is hung (and not in a good way), does not work, is kaputt, borked and has to be restarted.

Just so that we are clear on the problem.

My diagnosis

In a previous incarnation I was Senior German Engineer for Enterprise Disaster-Recovery Tech-Support EMEA at Veritas, before which I was in the same position at Seagate Software NSMG (Network Storage Management Group).

I am now retired although I still write guides on Ryzen CPUs and how to configure them, and help people who contact me - for free - on Discord with questions about Ryzen,

An example of a guide can be found here:

Just to be clear, I am not what I used to call a "Computer User, Non-Technical" (you work out the acronym) and I can smell a runaround by tech-support a mile away, so don't even try to send me any AI-Slop as a reply.

This is obviously a hardware issue, and, due to the nature of the complete crash it must involve a kernel (Ring 0) driver, and the only one I can think of which would be relevant would be the graphics driver.

From the very beginning your game did not function on AMD GPUs, with the same issue I am now relating (total system crash), to the point where, to get the game started you (Keen) had to circumvent the opening video, to even get the game to load in survival mode.

What this tells me is that your developers are ONLY developing the game on Nvidia GPUs, and you will get around to AMD GPUs when you are forced to, i.e. when you envisage a Console release of SE2.

I have invested 9.914.7 hours into Space Engineers over the years, so I think that tells you how gutted I feel with regard to the situation as it relates to SE2.

I did manage to play 94 hours of SE2 but that ended after the smaller updates over the past months since VS2 was released.

No doubt those minor updates probably addressed Nvidia issues and borked AMD GPUs in the process.

What is inescapable is that this is a hardware issue, and I am not exempting AMD drivers (I am on the latest 26.2.2 version) for being the culprit.
