SolarPanel attachment point problem

I can place a block (a small spot light in this case) in the corner of a large solar panel and the projection looks okay (1st image). But when I try to weld the spot light, it appears to be unweldable (orange glow) because it cannot attach to the radius in the corner of the panel (2nd image). It says "no connection points detected".
I should not be able to place it in the first place.
I have the same bug
