Unable to align/place window tile against inverted window tile

When trying to align a window tile between two othr windows, like in the screenshot below, the game does not let you place the window, despite there being enough space.
This seems to happen when trying to place the window against an inverted window tile, when the adjacent windows are not inverted ones.
The game either refused to place the new window, or only allows you to place a window with an offset equal to the smallest block size.
An example placement is:
1) A flat square window tile, placed horizontally on a grid.
2) An inverted triangle window tile, placed vertically on the same grid, one block away, so that there is space for the triangle window between the two blocks
