Hydro thruster flames showing when not pressing 'W'

Explanation time; I usually make a block of my back engines(I call reverse) so I can turn just those off to coast without wasting power. Yes turning off dampners works in space, not so much in gravity.
The problem is when trying to coast on planets. When I turn off back-thrusters the forward-thrusters come on when I'm not pressing 'W'. When out of gravity in space I get the same flames but are not using H2.
In SE1 keeping my ship's nose slightly below level I could coast into the gravity with only my up thrusters firing correctly, this saves a lot of fuel, not working in SE2. Forward engine should only come on to fight gravity or when 'W' is pressed.
