Drills not collecting floating ores

I built a large size miner and ran into the drill transfer issue where the ores are not being delivered to the cargo container.
As a result of the drilling, there are large floating chunks of ore around the drills. When I turned the drills on, the floating chunks were not collected, so I had to go chase them down with my space engineer.
You can see one here between the drills in the attached screenshot.
