Asteroid clusters in some sectors or crushed planet remainders
There could be some sectors with usual asteroid distribution, as we have now, but in some sectors asteroids could appear in a more clustered way - distance between clusters is larger, but in a cluster there will be dozens or hundreds asteroids (though performance may not allow that).
1. This make space looks a little bit different from sector to sector, and encourage players to explore more sectors.
2. Asteroid clusters can be a piloting challenge - asteroids in clusters much closer to each other, so, you will need maneuverable ship, and some pilot skills
3. There could be some rewards for players: ore deposits, npc stations, encounters, or something else
Another simmilar suggestion is to have destroyed by some reason planet, and there will be remainders of the planet. It will be more like one big cluster of asteroids, and it will be visible on the map.
