Welding does weld projection

When trying to weld a projection in survival, there is only a 30% chance that the block is actually welded and appears in game. Very often the block is not welded and the projection stays. When this occurs the welding sound for finishing the block still plays AND resources are substracted from the inventory.
This primary happens with small steel blocks and when using iron from the backpack.
(Also I tried this on Keemir, no idea if this is related.)
