Tutorial So Far - suggestion for improvement
Really liking the tutorial gameplay and progression system with the colonization and various missions to expose the player to the tools and functions of the game.
I think, however, the core idea of Space Engineers is being missed here a little bit.
Designing, crafting, building.
A good Contract would be the following:
"Build an outpost capable of ###kW of power output and refine x amount of Iron, x amount of silicon, and x amount of Nickel. Assemble x amount of steel plates, x amount of.... The outpost needs to have an antenna, an ore detector and a connector with the capacity to hold x amount of cargo. All machines and cargo must be connected together either directly or with a conveyor system. - Remember all Blocks must be on the same grid for power to flow to all connected blocks."
Create a waypoint on an empty asteroid where the player can build. Maybe that asteroid has the ore specified in the contract so as to avoid making them try to figure out how to find it.
I think a contract like this will really introduce the player into designing from nothing vs just repairing stuff that is already there for them - which doesn't really introduce all these design/build mechanics to a new player.
You could do another one where the player must add Hydrogen generation and storage to the same station.
As far as finding Ore, maybe a contract where you build an Ore Detector on the Sledge and are required to scout for certain ore and return it to the station would help them figure out how to do that. "Add an Ore Detector to the Sledge and search the asteroids in the area for ore using the Ore Detector. Return x amount of Iron Ore and x amount of Silicon Ore to this station by connecting the Sledge to the Station by using the ship's connector."
I like this feedback
