Feature request: GPS grouping and filtering
With VS2s release, the hud problem from SE1 is starting to come back. Obviously the hud and gps management isn’t finished yet, but I have a few ideas for gps management/QoL from my time in SE1:
1. GPS grouping. Similar to how you can add blocks to groups, having groups of GPS would be extremely useful for decluttering the screen since you could hide/show them all at once. Also when you are far away from multiple gps markers near the same location, instead of picking random ones to show it can just show the group name.
2. Gps filtering. Having some way to further filter down active GPS markers. For example, a search filter so you just search ‘base’, and then only gps markers with ‘base’ in the name are shown on screen. Another example could be a distance filter, only show gps markers less than 300 meters away. This would be very useful for mining. This way a player could create a few filter presets and quickly switch between them, maybe even via a hot key like the toolbar, in order to quickly manage the hud clutter.
3. GPS / hud marker priority. In SE1, when you have many ships with antennas plus gps markers, it becomes very difficult to spot enemy signals, ores, and other items of interest on the hud. It would be nice to have a priority system so that enemy signals could show up bigger or over signals that matter less.
I have been enjoying SE2 and the new update, but I think many players would agree that some sort of comprehensive hud management is needed, even if it is not these specific ideas.
