Conveyors not bridging gaps (Connecting between two points)

It seems if you try to connect one existing container/machine to another, the final piece does not connect at both ends, the only solution seems to be to build everything in a chain.
To test, build two containers and connect them with conveyors, make the last a 'T' piece and see if you can see both containers.
