HUD/cockpit conflict

The speed indicator on the HUD is nearly impossible to read against the background of the screen in first person view of the default cockpit. I understand those screens won't be functional for some time - I would rather you change the HUD to make it more visible against both dark and light backgrounds, as that will be useful even when using the jetpack.
