[Linux proton ge-10-25 Wayland.] Inventory almost unusable

Daedreus shared this bug 22 days ago
Not a Bug

On VS2 the inventory does not like detecting the mouse and takes a few clicks to function causing dragging to be impossible and the entire inventory to feel laggy.

unsure if its actually an issue with Cursor detection, or what.

Hello Bob Bill,

Linux based systems are currently not officially supported for Space Engineers 2. As such, we cannot guarantee a smooth experience.

For now I would advise to look through Linux chat on our official Discord: https://discord.gg/keenswh

I will close this thread as such.

Kind Regards,

This is a TERRIBLE way to respond to a customer. Especially one that paid for an unfinished product and is actively trying to help you get it finished...

Just because you dont support linux does not mean thsi is not a bug, If a windows user had the issue it would not be marked this way.

If I want to play Pokemon on my playstation i have no right to complain about Bugs, because it was not designed for that platform.

How should they adress that problem if there is no common Ground because they don´t touch Linux atm?

@Siggiroller25 the platform is PC you analogy is crap. The focus should not be turning operating systems into the console war, it should be about PC gamers, and there are a lot on Linux. This is all computer hardware were talking about its literally all the same at its simplest point and this shows a grand lack of understanding.

"PC" has historically been shorthand for "Windows PC", historically.

I'm a big fan of linux gaming, but I've never made the mistake of thinking I was a first-class citizen of the larger gaming environment - though thanks to GabeN I think my expectations might change in time.

That said: I understand Keens limits to their support, but do also sympathize with wanting Linux supported as a first-class OS.

@CaptainPicarl

Perhaps it was unintentional, but your response to this felt needlessly rude. Sure, OP is gaming on a Linux system in a pre-alpha release designed for windows, but if we start gatekeeping when, how and where we bring up or our issues as linux users then we'll NEVER see linux gaming EVER. Then it will be several decades down the line and we'll be back here waiting for the next mythical figure to finally "Revive Linux Gaming!" after GabeN dies. Lets not market the mindset that windows deserves some kind of privileged treatment. I'm glad OP's documenting this issue (even if its just an issue with Proton GE) because its posts like these that even made the devs aware that Linux support for dedicated servers was a hot request (which I surely hope they commit too). Its also just important to document :|

@Clangineer

SE2 on Linux works fine on Fedora KDE, CachyOS, SteamOS. At least with AMD CPUs & GPUs.

Even if KSH would support linux at some point, they would likely only officially support of few of the most common distros.

this is an issue not only on linux, the mouse also sometimes lags and clicks on the wrong item in windows too

the problem is that they didnt implement a proper hardware cursor

I feel like I've seen this bug in some game streams before but I've never played it on windows to confirm. I've definitely encountered the bug on CachyOS though. As an aside, the keyboard doesn't even work till I alt-tab out and back in after starting up the game.
