More complex power generation
Currently power generation in SE1 and 2 seems to be fairly simple: place block, get power. Only slightly more complex is place block, gib fuel, get power.
I would like to see more complicated power systems that require actual designing, combining blocks in different ways to create different power sources that can have varying levels of efficiency and/or safety. Give me a reason to create a big reactor building or room, not just plop down a block.
As of now, SE1/2 do not implement these types of features, but examples could be:
- heat management, requiring heat sinks or coolant, particularly with water coming to SE2
- voltage regulation, requiring transformers, capacitors, or resistors
- radiation shielding
It would be necessary to balance the mechanics in such a way that your ships don’t need to be giant floating cities just to support this level of power generation because of all the necessary blocks taking up more space or without turning the game into a massively overly complicated power engineer sim.
Just systems that make me actually design things rather than just plop down more blocks randomly to scale up.
