Please update the tutorial!

After seeing how cool SE2 looked on YouTube, I decided recently to try SE1 to learn how to play. Let me say I LOVE this game considering I come from a background of space games and sandbox games.

The main issue I had with SE1 is that it was extremely hard to learn.

Even with my background in similar games and extensive videos watched of playthroughs on YouTube, I have to say that if I didn’t WANT to learn the game and didn’t push through, I would have given up very early into the tutorial. I assume with all the maps and other very cool features you are adding, that the tutorial will be updated; but I will still submit my feedback just incase.

The tutorial needs to be linear and not open sandbox. Jumping into the asteroid tutorial after giving up on the one where you land near a base and have to find some guy (super confusing when you don’t even know how the game works), you can see the areas where a tutorial will start. Didn’t realize that I had to use the console to start it and I also noticed the tutorial would sometimes get stuck or repeat certain things. This may have been user error but I eventually threw both tutorials in the bin and just jumped into my own sandbox game and learnt through YouTube and google how to do things. This is obviously the most painful way but easier than the current setup.

I really wish for your game to be adopted by many people and hope that it is a huge success. You definitely need a proper linear tutorial that takes things in steps. This also needs to be playtested by people that HAVE NOT played space engineers before so you get proper feedback from brand new players. If you can get an average player to understand your game, you will have a ton more people playing.

I know your game will be successful either way and everything looks amazing. I would love to tell my friends to get the game, let them do the tutorial and be automatically drawn into the gameplay; instead of “just trust me I can teach you, it will be fine I promise”
