Shadows are broken when interacting with light sources on an Intel Arc B580
System Specifications:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 9600x
- GPU: Intel Arc B580 12gb (Latest drivers as of 06/06/2025: 32.0.101.6877, also occurs when using older drivers as well)
- RAM: 32GB DDR5
When interacting with light sources with complex shapes, shadows are not cast correctly, instead they are broken up and are in completely incorrect locations. As seen below:
Interestingly, this is not affected by raytracing, I have raytracing enabled in the screenshot but disabling it does not change the results. Instead it is affected by the "Shadow Quality" option in the graphics settings, the issue is present when using the High or Extreme option, turning it to Low or Medium completely removes the problem as seen below:
However, with the Shadow Quality set to low or medium, shadows are no longer present at all with raytracing enabled as shown below:
With Shadow Quality set to High or Extreme: (Raytracing: High)
Shadows are cast correctly (Though they are still offset somewhat, as seen in left pillar of the bridge).
With Shadow Quality set to Low or Medium: (Raytracing: High)
Shadows are not present.
There is another interesting problem with shadows relating to distance, if I move closer to an area with lots of shadows, the shadows get better and are not broken up (but are still inaccurate). As seen below:

- Areas in shadows are visible when they should be illuminated.
- Shadows are offset, as seen by the railing.
I can't remember ever seeing any issue like this when using my GTX 1070, so it seems like this might be an Intel specific problem.
