Hardcore mode in SE2 for veteran SE1 players

SE2 is being made easier for new players to get started and that is a good thing.
Veteran SE1 players may feel that this is too much hand holding for them.
Things like auto-docking and 20m/s threshold for damage for example.
Could there be an option for SE1 players to ease the transition from SE1 to SE2 to account for their experience in controlling vessels.
