Hydrogen System overall - SE1 critique for SE2

Hydrogen is probably my favorite mechanic from SE1, but some parts are very tedious. Where other areas are lacking depth.

1. Chemical tanks are nonce in SE1. They either store Oxygen or Hydrogen. This should be an option on the block for what chemical to store. This would also allow us to use whatever model we want.

2. Multiple Chemicals

  • Oxygen - Obvious.
  • Hydrogen - Obvious. Can be used for engines, but is less dense than a refined version.
  • Clean Water - Not obvious, but should also have specific water storage tanks that hold more. (Mod?)
  • Waste Water - Not obvious, but should also have specific water storage tanks that hold more. Carbon source, used for Refining Hydrogen further or Farming. Can be Treated for regular water and solid carbon.
  • Kerosene or Methane - New Chemical for use in Hydrogen Thrusters. Substantially more dense than Hydrogen, slightly less efficient, but the amount you can store in the same space should be a lot more.

Alternative Gameplay mechanic. In a similar way to what is happening in SE1 with the "New Survival Mode".

  • Additional Mechanics could be implemented to require Oxygen for Hydrogen Thrusters. The engines would display the ratio in the information tab.
  • Additional chemical refinery blocks to refine Kerosine, Methane from Hydrogen+Carbon with the engines being able to select what type of fuel to use and being able to select what type of liquid a tank holds. Perks of this would be density since a tank should be able to hold more Kerosine/Methane and are more fuel efficient than Hydrogen.
  • Gravel being a block to get Carbon from at low percentage OR carbon coming from farming. I'm unsure if farming is on the roadmap like what we're expecting to see in SE1.
