Helmet immersion in survival

The idea is to make the helmet have it's noticeable downsides as to give players in survival more reason to use it (or not) depending on the context, as an example, outer wilds does this by making the helmet a visual element and restricting a little the field of view, this way not using the helmet feels less restrictive visually in a context where you don't need it
