The game crashes when I build on a ship with more than 450,000 blocks.

Not a Bug

Basically, I've seen that the game crashes when I build a ship with more than 450,000 blocks. The only file I have modified is PCUSessionComponentConfiguration.def and I changed the value to 4,000,000 instead of 400,000.

Hello SrILucifer,

Unfortunately, there is not much we can do. Please note that exceeding default PCU is not recommended and may cause issues and crashes.

As such I will close this thread.

Yes, I understand, but could you tell me if it is due to a limitation of the engine or due to modifying the PC file?

Hello SrILucifer,

It's the limitation of the engine. We cannot guarantee a smooth experience after exceeding 400 000 PCU, as rendering very large Grids is heavy on the Game Engine.

This might be worth exploring further. From my general understanding of programming, I'd expect things to slow down rather than crashing. As in, you get a slideshow instead of fluid movement. That would be normal with excessive grid size.

But a crash hints at bugs or design errors in the engine. Hardcoded limitations maybe?
